I Won't Wait is the debut single from YVA.
"This is one of the first songs I ever wrote, way back in 2011, angry at a guy for always coming back when he wanted to and cutting me adrift when he panicked. It’s taken me years to get the music to feel right, and it never quite did. I was scared I’d never kick it out into the world, I really waited for the perfect moment. It was only upon realising that there is no perfect moment, that the song made a kind of final sense. I’ve been tired of waiting for my life. In a male dominated industry, as a woman I’ve given too much power to other people to make decisions for me. I’m finally not wanting to wait around for someone else to decide my worth as an artist. I’m not waiting just to lose my mind, not waiting to live so that I never do, and not waiting for the perfect version of me, just to never dance and grow. Listen, I'm just not bloody waiting any more, right?"
